At the slopes of Mount La Serra, near Marina di Maratea, the Cave of Wonders offers a unique spectacle.

Discovered by chance during the construction of the current State Road, the entrance to the cave is located at 76 meters above sea level and is extremely easy to reach by car.

The Grotta delle Meraviglie is the smallest tourist cave in Italy with its 90 meters of length and 8 meters of depth that can be traveled through a comfortable staircase. Based on carbonate lithotypes of the lower Cretaceous belonging to the complex of the mountains Giagola and Gada, it presents carbonate concretions of the stalactitic and stalagmitic type.

The visit to the Grotta delle Meraviglie di Marina di Maratea takes about 30 minutes.

The cave is well lit and does not require special clothing for the visit, although it is good to know that the internal temperature is around 15° to 18°C. and a relative humidity of 95%.

The Grotta delle Meraviglie of Marina di Maratea is open to the public just in summertime:

every day from 10:30 to 13:30 and from 15:30 to 18:30 until September 30th

Entrance Fee: € 5 EURO / PERSON

Free entrance for children up to 6 years and members of the Italian Speleological Society (in possession of a valid card).
